Spring 2006
Dedicated Aviation Specialists
While the handful of pilots draw the most attention among the Blue Angels, their jobs would be impossible without the enlisted support personnel within the squadron. Over a hundred Sailors and Marines handle the complex challenges of aircraft maintenance, logistics, and other support duties for a squadron that travels the world on a hectic tour pace. Drawn from some of the finest Navy and Marine Corps aviation personnel in the fleet, the team is led by senior enlisted personnel headed by the command master chief petty officer. They include crew chiefs for each of the aircraft, as well as specialists in avionics, aircraft engines, airframes, and life support systems. Others handle the squadron’s administration, supply, events coordination, public affairs, even the healthcare of the personnel. This highly skilled, highly motivated men and women ensure that the Blue Angels demonstrate the highest ideals of the Navy and Marine Corps.
