Navy College Program
The Navy College Program offers advice, testing, courses, and financial assistance to streamline the process for Sailors to get a college degree.

The Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB)
Upon signing up you agree to a $100 per month contribution from your salary for 12 months.  In return you earn up to $15,800 towards your college education for use after you complete active duty.  The only requirement is that you are not prior enlisted.  See also Reserve Montgomery GI Bill.

Program for Afloat College Education (PACE)
PACE provides the opportunity for sea duty sailors to enroll in fully funded courses at the academic skills, pre-college, and college levels.  Courses provided under the PACE contracted program allow Sailors to work toward Servicemembers Opportunity College Navy (SOCNAV) degrees.

Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges
SOC was created in 1972 to provide educational opportunities to servicemembers, who, because they frequently moved from place to place, had trouble completing college degrees.  Today SOC is a consortium of more than 1200 colleges and universities that provide educational opportunities for servicemembers and their families.

Work-Study Program
This program is available to any student receiving VA education benefits who is attending school three-quarter time or more.  An individual working under this program may work at the school veterans' office, VA Regional Office, VA Medical Facilities, or at approved State employment offices.  Work-study students are paid at either the state or Federal minimum wage, whichever is greater.

Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support (DANTES)
DANTES is a Department of Defense activity which supports the voluntary education programs of all military services.  One of DANTES' major functions is to provide tests to service members through Navy Campus Education Centers.  These tests are for college admission, college credit, high school completion, teacher certification, and professional certification.  DANTES also implements a DOD-wide Distance Learning Program.

Tuition Assistance
If you're interested in going to school while you're in the Navy, this program will pay up to 75 percent of the tuition for courses taken on your own time (off-duty) at accredited institutions.

Survivors' and Dependents' Educational Assistance Program (DEA)
DEA provides education and training opportunities to eligible dependents of veterans who are permanently and totally disabled due to a service-related condition, or who died while on active duty or as a result of a service related condition.  The program offers up to 45 months of education benefits.  These benefits may be used for degree and certificate programs, apprenticeship, and on-the-job training.  If you are a spouse, you may take a correspondence course.  Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances.

Navy College Fund
In combination with the MGIB, the Navy College Fund can offer upwards to $50,000 to those interested in pursuing mission-critical positions.

Veterans Educational Assistance Program (VEAP)
VEAP is available is you first entered the service between January 1, 1977 and June 30, 1985 and you elected to make contributions from your military pay to participate in this educaitona benefit program.  Your contributons are matched on a $2 for $1 basis by the Government.  This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses.  Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances.

Navy College Assistance/Student Headstart Program (Navy-Cash)
The Navy-CASH Program is the newest Navy program available for motivated college students who qualify for the Nuclear Field.  For those who qualify, this program allows you to get paid and have Navy benefits while attending college full time.

CPO Scholarships
The CPO Scholarship Fund offers annual educational awards for spouses and children (natural born, adopted, or stepchildren) of active, reserve, retired, and deceased Navy chief petty officers.  Currently the program applies to active, reserve and retired Navy CPO's and their dependents that are not on active duty.
