Library & Media Resource Center

The United States Navy Memorial Media Resource Center, housed in the Naval Heritage Center, provides quick reference for visitors and researchers on subjects pertaining to naval history, ships, and naval aircraft. A special section of the library, The Voices of the Navy Memorial Collection, features original oral and written accounts of service by naval veterans. The library's holdings include nearly 1,000 books and periodical titles, 30,000 photographs, 1,500 Voices entries, and a variety of multimedia products.
Education Department staff, volunteers and interns assist thousands of visiting researchers, as well as those seeking assistance by mail and email. The Department is able to duplicate ship and other historical photographs for veterans and their families.
The library is open Monday through Saturday and accepts walk-ins.
Because of the library's space limitations, we cannot accept all donated materials (books, photographs, historical documents), but we can help donors find a suitable home for their personal materials. If you are interested in donating materials to the library, please contact the Education Department before sending items to us. Please do not send unsolicited material.
