The Lone Sailor© - West Haven, Connecticut

A replica of The Lone Sailor© statue was dedicated in West Haven on August 6, 2000. The statue overlooks Long Island Sound from its position in Old Grove Park. The statue represents all of the men and women of the sea services. And it pays tribute to West Haven's long seafaring history.

The statue was donated by West Haven residents and Navy veteran, Marty DeGrand, who continues to assist in ongoing expansions and improvements to Old Grove Park. Other site improvements have been made by the local West Haven community and the state of Connecticut. Some of those improvements include:

  • Park Bench Sponsorship Program
  • Tree Donation Program
  • Site landscaping
  • Park fountain
  • Entrance arch to Old Grove Park
